Guatemala Trip - part 3

Tuesday morning was a rough morning for some of us.  The imodium came in handy for a few of us this morning.  After having pancakes for breakfast, we loaded up for our 2nd day in Conrado de la Cruz.  After arriving there, we split into 3 groups and began visiting house-to-house.  Tuesday seemed to be hotter and more humid than the day before.  We served lunch and rested in the shade.  Before we were able to start visiting again, Josh and Susan had become really sick.  We decided that the best thing for us to do at that point would be to go back early and allow everyone to rest.  We left the village around 2p and rested the rest of the afternoon.

After dropping us off at the hotel, David went into town to buy some medicine from the pharmacy for Josh and Susan.  You can buy pretty much anything at a pharmacy in Central America.

A few of us made it to dinner that night at the hotel.  We skipped devotion and share time for the night and prayed that everyone would feel better for tomorrow.

We all were careful, however we are in a different country, different food, different living conditions.  We weren't discouraged...we are here to serve.

End of Day 4.

Wednesday was a new day!  Although Susan and Josh were still sick and would stay at the hotel for the day, the rest of the group was feeling rested  and ready to go.

Today would be our first day in the village of Bolivia.  The drive was around 20-30 minutes longer.

We met at Francisco's house.  Francisco is one of those guys that makes an impression and you'll never forget him.  He loves the Lord and has a great desire for his fellow villagers to know Him too.

Francisco's house is on the River and had a great view of the river and the banana plantation on the other side.  We were only about 10 miles from the ocean.  Francisco told us a story about the hurricane that had hit that area a few years ago and how the surge up the river pushed water over the tops of the doorway into his house.  There was no warning...pretty amazing that they survived.

We began our morning prayer walking around the village and then visited house-to-house until lunch.  After lunch some of Francisco's sons climbed the coconut tress and cut down coconuts for everyone.  Francisco hollers "Camera , Action"...you have to say this with a spanish accent to get the effect.  The juice is actually pretty tasty.

We spent the rest of the afternoon visiting house-to-house.  We were able to share the gospel with many people today.  We were also able to pray with everyone we visited.

We left the village around 4p.  We went back into Mazatenango for dinner @ Subway and more grocery shopping for lunch supplies.

Josh and Susan were feeling much better.  We finished the day with devotion time and another presentation from David.
