This weekend we headed up to Travis's Uncle Cotton's house to spend the weekend. Cotton passed away a few weeks ago, and the boys had never gotten to spend any time on his land. The farm will be auctioned off soon, and Papa really wanted the boys to get to see the place first.
It is absolutely beautiful!! The boys were in "country boy" heaven!!
Here is Beau with Nana enjoying the beautiful weather outside!
Cotton has a Gator and the boys coudln't wait to get on it. First, they had to air the tires up.
NaNa and her boys:)
Blaker and Beauster.
Finally, a trip on the Gator. Even Beau got a turn!!
The place is absolutely beautiful...green and serene. This was a view of the back of the property. You can sit at the kitchen table and look out at this view. I could totally live there!!
The boys thought it was SO cool to ride by and "check" on the cows. Evan wanted to know if we needed to milk them. Hmmm, NO, they are beef cows :)
Travis and Pete took on a little project together. They changed the blades on the lawn mower. A little father and son bonding :)
It wasn't long before the boys were tired of me driving them around on the Gator. They wanted to drive. So, I caved, and gave them their first driving lessons. They both actually did great! This picture was just for fun...I was in the passenger side the whole time. Blake and Evan took turns riding in the back and driving.
The boys also had a BLAST exploring in Cotton's house. He was a "garage saler" and had tons of treasures for the boys to check out. They both got to choose a few small things to bring home. The highlight of the day for Evan was getting to keep a pair of Cotton's boots. They were too big, but Evan didn't care AT ALL!! He wore them the whole weekend...everywhere we went. I foresee many arguements in the future over whether or not he can wear them to school. I wouldn't care one bit, but they are about 2 sizes too big. We'lll see!!
At game time we went in and watched the first half. We headed to the hotel during half time. For the record, let me just say that we won't be attempting any more hotel stays until Beau is a little older!!!
After the game, we cleaned up and headed into Kansas City to have dinner at the Cheesecake Factory!! We had to wait a long time, but it was SO worth it!! We ate until we were going to pop, then got our cheesecake to go:)
Ev and I together at dinner. Evan was so tired he fell asleep at the table after we ate!!This was the boys as we headed out of the hotel Sunday morning. Seriously, all of that for ONE night in a hotel. A little embarressing!! (Notice Blake's hat...one of the things Blake chose to keep that belonged to Uncle Cotton). He LOVED it!!
Thanks NaNa and PaPa for such a fun trip. We had such a good time and I'm so glad the boys got to "know" Cotton a little better!!
