ACT & 5K Yule Run

Saturday December 8 was a big day for us!  Blake took the ACT for the first time.  Yes, I said the ACT.  How is that possible??  He was invited to take it through the Duke University Talent Search.  I remembered taking it the same way in the 7th grade, so I knew it would be a good learning experience for him.

After I dropped him off at the high school, we headed to Farmers Bank with Evan so that he could run in the Yule Run 5K.  He was super pumped!  He didn't "train" at all,  In fact, he was planning to "train" the day before but got in some trouble at school and was grounded to his room:)

Here he is with his number on....ready to go!

We got there a little early, so we hung out in the car for a little bit.  Beau practiced his seat belt skills.
Evan with his "time chip" on one foot and a jingle bell on the other!
 And....he's OFF!!
We hung out on Main Street waiting for him to finish.  Beau LOVED the nativity at the Dog Pound ice cream shop.
We ran into Andy and Hayden Daniel (they were waiting on Amy and Dunn to finish) and Beau and Hayden did some running of their own.  It was SO cute.  They ran down Main Street and crossed the finish line (several times).

 Cute friends!
 Here they come again!
I would love to know what that conversation was about??
And here he comes!!  He did awesome!  Finished in 27:25.
There was a guy dressed as Santa who ran in the race.  Beau and Hayden walked up to him and proceeded to tell him what they wanted for Christmas:)
 He was worn out!
He moved into the age 10-14 year old category this year and came in 4th!!  He finished behind 3 big boys who have been running Cross Country.  We were VERY proud of him!!!
