Driveway Fun!!

It has been SO hot and miserable the last couple of weeks.  104+ has been the norm.  We bought a little kiddie pool when Beau was a little baby, and just never got around to blowing it up and playing with it.  Well, Evan talked me into letting him get it out one afternoon.  

Let me tell you, it was well worth the $7 I spent on it!!  He and Beau played for a LONG time!  It looked so fun, Dace and Deacon even came down to try it out:)

This was one of those days when I was SO proud of Evan.  He played with Beau so well and made sure he had a good time.  Good times on the driveway!!

Lately...

 We had the annual Wilkerson Family Reunion a couple of weekends ago at Creekmore Park.  We HAD to ride the train....twice.  Beau and Evan both loved it.

 We had our first watermelon of the season, thanks to NaNa and PaPa.  It was SO good!

 Beau has been playing with his water table on the back porch.  It also serves as an extra dog water bowl:)

 We are keeping Carly while Nonnie and Poppy are in Maine for 3 weeks.  They get along great!  I was sitting out on the deck the other night, and all of a sudden I started hearing this horrible high pitched shreek.  I looked over and they were killing a baby bunny.  It was horrible.  But, by the time I figured out what was going on, it was way too late to intervene.  Snowy was very proud of herself.

 When it's 105 outside, sometimes you just have to get IN the water table!!

 Eating eggs one morning for breakfast.  Proof Daddy was home, because I don't cook for breakfast. 

 We had a nice quiet 4th of July.  Both sides of our family were out of town, so we just hung out together.  We went swimming at the Vache for a while in the afternoon.  Then we had supper at Pizza Barn and walked over to the square to check out the festivities.  We ended up snagging some plastic chairs, and sat and listened to 10 Spur.  By then, we decided we might as well just stay put and watch the fireworks from there.  It was great!  The boys had a blast!  Beau LOVED the fireworks (he thought it was a "gun" every time).  On a side note...we forgot to put Snowy in her kennel before we left.  BIG mistake.  She literally knocked down the fence to escape the backyard.  She broke one board in half and tore another one off the fence.  She even managed to get her collar off.  She is lucky to still be alive. For real.

 Someone must be growing!  Beau had a total of 5 yogurts for breakfast yesterday morning!

 We didn't get around to making ice cream on the 4th, so the boys and I decided to make it yesterday.  It was the perfect afternoon treat on a 105+  degree day!

 The boys have been bored, so they pulled out the huge tub of Legos.  They have spent HOURS the past 2 days making "creations".  I LOVE it!!!  They are SO creative and they actually get along.  Blake has been a good sport and made things for Beau to "play" with.  They last about 3 minutes, but Beau loves taking them apart and Blake says it gives him a good reason to create something new.

 We are making the best of these HOT summer days!!!

The Lake!

 We went to the lake a couple of weekends ago and had a blast!  Beau was SO good!!!  It is totally different than last year with him.  He just sat and watched or sat in Poppy's lap and "drove" the boat.

 Blake and Evan spent hours on the tube.  They only got thrown off a couple of times.  One BIG crash though, when Travis was driving;)  They both went flying!!

 Beau and I went on a ride in the tube, too.  He LOVED it!!  He even wanted to go faster.  I had to be the voice of reason.  I was a nervous wreck!!

Happy 37th to me!!

I celebrated a birthday a few weeks ago.  The big 37:).  Funny thing is, I've been thinking I was 37 for a whole year, so finding out I was just turning 37 was kinda like not having a birthday at all!!  Sweet!

We finally managed a girl's night a couple of weeks after my birthday.  Even then, I had several friends with conflicts.  Missed you girls!!  We met at Rolandos (my favorite).  Sharon came down from Fayetteville and I was SO glad to see her!!

We sat and talked for hours!! (Seriously).  Great night with great friends!!  I'm blessed!!

Viva Las Vegas!!

Travis is turning 40 this summer!!  So, I wanted to do something special to celebrate.  His birthday falls a few days after I get back from Nicaragua and a few days before we leave for the beach so I knew doing something on his actual birthday would be tricky.  So, I decided to surprise him!!!  Sharon, Ryan, and I planned a trip to Vegas and booked it without him knowing:)  I finally told him a few days before we were leaving.  He was SO excited!!  It worked out perfectly....thanks to Nonnie and Poppy for keeping Blake and Evan, and NaNa and PaPa for keeping Beau.

We left on a Friday night out of XNA in Fayetteville.  Here we are waiting to board the plane!

We got to Vegas about 11:30 Vegas time (but it was 1:30 to our bodies).  We decided to press on and go hang out for a while anyway.  We stayed at New York New York so we had some good pizza and did some GREAT people watching.  We finally went to bed a couple of hours later.

On our way to the elevator that night we stumbled across "Michael Jackson" performing in the casino.  He was AWESOME!!!  We actually ended up watching his show a couple of times during the trip.

We slept in (and it was wonderful).  We got out and did some sight-seeing.  We ended up at Caesar's Palace at lunch time and ate at the Cheesecake Factory.  Yummy!!!

We had trouble deciding if we would see a show or not (the boys, especially Ryan were a little hard to convince:).  We ended up actually seeing 2 shows!!

We saw Dancing with the Stars on Saturday night.  It was SO fun!  This was the outside of the theatre.

It was almost impossible to get a picture, but it was a really cool show.  There were some people from the actual show there.  Our favorites were Lacey Schwimmer (racy Lacey:) and Kyle Massey.  Carson (I can't remember his last name, but he was on the show, the gay guy:) and he was the host.  He was absolutely hilarious!!  Also, Joey Fatone was there and he was fun also.

On Sunday we took a trip on the bus to see Pawn Stars.  Travis and I had been before, but Ryan and Sharon wanted to see it.  Thanks to our walking GPS (Travis) we made it there with no problems!

Later that night we were out walking around and this guy, with a light up billboard attached to his back, got on the elevator behind Ryan and Sharon.  It totally cracked me up!!!

We went to another really cool show that night, then wandered down to the Venetian to eat.  We ate in a fancy Italian place.  It was pretty good, even if we couldn't read the menu:)

Every evening we found a little place in our hotel to sit and people watch.  It was right outside a piano bar, so we got to listen to great music, and right on the path from the Zumanity theatre and the door from outside.  So, we got to see everyone walk by!  It was probably the highlight of the trip.  It was 110+ degrees there and I can't tell you how many people walked by either carrying or wearing a sweater.  It was a "chilly" epedimic:))  And all the couples with matching outfits, and the young girls in stilettos trying to walk around Vegas.  We even saw quite a few "hot babes now".  Haha!! VERY entertaining!!!

The next day we got up and did a little souvenir shopping.  We had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe before we had to pack up and head to the airport.

This was the funnest trip!!!  It was great to just to get hand out with great friends with no real agenda.  We talked and laughed and joked and played and just thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.  We decided we will take this trip when each of us turns 40!  Only 3 more years until our next trip!!
