Guatemala 2014 - part two

Sunday morning.

We were up around 7:45 for breakfast.  We had cinnamon rolls, cereal, orange juice and coffee.

Prior to coming we had been challenged to read the book "Living like a Missionary".  Each day this week a person in our group will lead a devotional about a particular topic from the book.

I was the first devotional of the week.  We had our group together in the living room of the main house, along with our missionaries David and Glynis.  I was a little nervous to be the first one of the week, however it was on prayer and helped set the tone for the week.

Just a few thoughts from the devotional:

-When we pray God hears & answers...IF we pray according to His will.  Praying according to His will is the key to powerful prayer.

-We should pray for more people to join the Harvest, pray for more opportunities to share the Gospel, pray for bold insight for sharing, pray for the Gospel to spread rapidly and pray for people to be saved.

The book talked about the difference between presuming and assuming.  I mentioned that I, without thinking, use these words interchangeably. To presume is to operate as if something has happened when it may not have.  To assume is when we take responsibility for making something happen.  We can't PRESUME God will work apart from prayer - we need to ASSUME responsibility and pray strategically and specifically.

Lastly, there's nothing more important to God than what we are here to do - reach the lost and expand His kingdom.  Let's have an awesome week!

Guatemala is really a beautiful country.  Just a snapshot of a view as we traveled towards Tiquisate.

The trip was around 2.5 hours.  We stopped about midway at a roadside convenience store.  The store had restrooms, cold drinks, snacks and a zoo.

Erin and I had a matrimonial suite.  We had new towel sculptures each day.

We stayed in a hotel in Tiquisate for the week.  The hotel was around 30 minutes from the village.  in 2012 we stayed 1.5 hours away in another city.  This was a much better drive into the village each day.  After checking in and getting situated, we had lunch and started unpacking the meds and supplies for the week.  We sorted meds up until we left for church around 3p.  We headed to San Maricio to worship with our partner church.  It was great to see some of the same faces again.  Anytime you sing Victory in Jesus - its awesome, even in spanish.  We headed back after the service and visiting.  We had dinner, met to plan the next day and shared about the day.  Afterwards we continued sorting meds and headed to bed around 9p.
